Know Your Roots
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
Assalamualaikum
Title: Know Your Roots
Winning over a little debate and then you feel a little proud because you've just made the other party look like a complete fool. My advice? Drop your arrogance, save those debates, and throw them into the rubbish bin.
Dear students of knowledge who are trying to attain as much knowledge as possible about the Deen. Here's a little reminder for us. As we go into search for more ilm', we should always remember one thing; and that is humility. Because the more knowledge we have, the more humble we should become.
Some of us, when we think that we've gained an incredible amount of knowledge in ukhrawi, we subconscioulsy tend to become more judgemental towards people around us. We feel like we're right all the time. We feel like we are the most holiest people on Earth and we behave like we have already been guaranteed a place in Jannah. But, that is not how a student of knowledge should behave like. We should never behave like that. Nuh-uh-uh. Read my lips; n.e.v.e.r
We should maintain our humility, at all times. On a personal note, I'm having a hard time with myself right now. Ever since I've started to do relief teaching at the mosque, people start calling me Ustazah. Some would see this as an honour, but in actual fact, I feel a little uncomfortable when people call me Ustazah. I don't even know if my eeman is strong enough, to live up to that name. I am not deserving of that title, at all.
I don't know how to react when friends on facebook would write on my wall and call me an Ustazah etc. Yeah well, I know they don't mean it in a harm way, but I just wish that people would treat me normally. I'm just doing relief teaching at a mosque. I am just a relief teacher. Please don't look too highly on me for there are still so many things that I do not know because I am still in the process of learning. I am not even fit to be considered as a good-role model for others to follow. Look at the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w as your role-model instead for He is by far, the best example of a good role-model, that I could ever think of.
May Allah make us humble and help us maintain our humility.
