Title: It's in the genes!

I've just discovered something. The art of tarannum, it has been running in my family blood these whole while! And to think that I had just discovered about it now, really makes me want to investigate more about my family's history. Recently, while my dad was cleaning up our store-room at home, he found this old 'black-and-white' picture; as shown above. It was a picture of his eldest brother, 2nd eldest brother and the adult in this picture is my grandfather. But we couldn't figure out who that small little boy is, at all.

This was a picture taken some years back when my Pak Long and Pak Ngah, entered a Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran in the 1960s. Pak Long won the first place, & Pak Ngah won the second place. That's like wow. Look at how huge the trophies are! All these while, I didn't know that Pak Long and Pak Ngah could do tarannum so well. They hardly ever talk to me about it. I did ask Pak Long to teach me tarannum, but he wouldn't because he had forgotten how to 'tarannum' as well as before. But oh well, that's okay. I hope that one day, I will be able to continue this 'legacy' and appear as the female champion in a Musabaqah competition someday. But, hah hah. Dream on Susu!

Seeeee, it's a no wonder that I have got such strong passion for tarannum!
