Assalamualaikum
Title: I am now officially a student at Pergas!
Alhamdulilah! I am now officially a student at Pergas. You don't know how happy I was when my parents showed me the official letter from Pergas, indicating that my application had been accepted. I jumped around the dining room in glee, with that letter in hand. Oh, thank you Allah.
2 months ago, somewhere in late November 2010, I remember how, my whole family came down to Assyakirin Mosque to hear the taklimat for Sijil Pengajian Islam. It was heartbreaking to see that only 5 souls turned up for the taklimat, which shows to go that SPI, wasn't well-received. Of course, how could they possibly open up a class, with only 5 miserable students? Ever since then, I kept on praying in hope that more people would sign up for SPI, that will be held at Assyakirin. And true enough, my prayers were answered.
It was such a relief. Only He knows how much I've been wanting this. So, in that letter it stated that there will be an Orientation held at Masjid Sultan on Sunday, 2 January 2010. An itinerary of the Orientation was also attached with that letter.

8.50am - Welcome Speech by Head of Committee
9.30am - Ice Breaker Game, Part 1
10.30am - Light refreshments
11.00am - Takzirah by Ustaz Mohd Hasbi, President of Pergas
11.30am - Ice Breaker Game, Part 2
12.30pm - Lunch, Zohor.
1.30pm - Group Discussion
3.30pm - Motivational Preach by Ustaz Mohd Zaky ( C.I.N.T.A )
4.00pm - Qasidah Performance by Madeehul Mustafa
4.30pm - Light refreshments, selling of books.
5.00pm - End of event

Pergas, here I come!

Assalamualaikum
Topic: Pergas, here I come!
I hope December would end soon. I can't wait to start my new semester at Pergas this January; Sijil Pengajian Islam. It'll be held twice a week at a local mosque somewhere in the East/West of Singapore, 6.30pm - 10.30pm. My parents told me that this wouldn't be easy, given that I'll be moving on a tertiary education as of 2011 onwards; that is, IF I made it out alive for my O-levels. I foresee a super duper extremely hectic schedule awaiting me for the year 2011. Am I cut out for that? InsyaAllah, I hope so.
I really gotta thank Him for carving out the path for me to pursue my interests in Islamic Studies. As to whether it'll be a part of my career or not, I'm still clueless'bout that. According to Mum, there are so many local asastizah's out there these days earning "okay-okay" only. Well that is of course with the exception of graduates from Al-Azhar university etc. I wish, I could be one of the students in Al-Azhar one day, but I doubt that'll be possible given the fact that I know not a single word or Arabic. I mean, yeah I can read the Quran but I heard that some of the courses available at most Islamic Universities, requires the ability to speak,read,and write fluent Arab. So, tada! I'm left at a disadvantage.
However, just when I felt that all hopes would be gone, the recent briefing for Sijil Pengajian Islam that I had attended a few weeks back, brought hope back to my life. The representative Ustazah from Pergas explained to us that modules for Arabic Language will be held on a step-by-step basis, after we've completed our Sijil Pengajian Islam, which lasts for about a year. However, students will only be granted a pass in this course, only if we memorise in Al-Quran recitation and Hadiths. I got a shock when the representative Ustazah from Pergas mentioned that. Perhaps she saw my jaws dropped. ( i was sitting at the front row). She looked and smiled at me telling me not to worry. We'll just be memorising Juz-Juz Amma, not the whole Quran. Phew. With the help of my Digital Al-Quran, I think this should not be a problem. The Digital Quran has helped me alot when I had to memorise Surah Yasin. So I guess this puts me at an advantage above the rest. Well, maybe. Heh heh heh.
Oh, back to the arabic language module. The module will only be included in Sijil Pengajian Islam Lanjutan. It's a 1.5year course. But of course we wouldn't just be focusing on Arabic Language, other modules will be included too. So, according to the Ustazah the module starts with basic arabic first. So, insyaAllah, one day I'll be able to converse fluently in Arabic. Ahah, if that really happens, then I'll know how to converse in 4 different languages! English,Malay,Mandarin and Arabic. Yeah? How cool is that?
Hmm, but right now, I would have to finish my Pra Sijil Pengajian Islam Belia at Perdaus first. This 4 months course, will end somewhere in the first 2 weeks of March 2011. I've learnt a lot and made many new friends. Apparently, I happen to be the 2nd youngest kid in class. The youngest is 15. The rest are already like in Universities, ITE, Polytechnics etc. My Ustaz mentioned that there will be a continuation of this course, Sijil Pengajian Islam Belia (SPIB) after we graduate from this 4 months course. But since my parents suggested me to move on to Pergas instead, I'll just follow and do as they say. Well to be honest, regardless of whether I go to, Pergas, Perdaus or Al-Zuhri or wherever, to further my Islamic Education Studies, my aim would still be one. To study and know more about Islam, for the sake of Allah. Simple. (:
